Our Technical and Advisory Services (TAS) Department provides specialised advisory services to the value chain players in the horticultural industry. The overall objective of the department is to promote sustainable production of the scheduled horticulture crops for food and nutrition security, as well as enhance the economic growth of the actors in the sub-sector.

Services
- Conduct training programs aimed at increasing their knowledge on the production of horticultural crops, including produce quality, safety and post-harvest management
- Build capacity of value chain players on new and appropriate innovations and technologies for development of horticulture value chains, including climate change, mitigation measures and sustainable crop production through adoption of climate smart agriculture.
- Build the capacity of counties on the management of emerging pests and diseases that affect the production and marketability of crops.
- Develop technical training materials on various aspects of good agricultural practices (GAP) for optimal production, produce quality, safety, and post-harvest handling.
- Formulate general and specific policies for the development and regulation of the horticultural sector.
- Ensure sustainable food and nutrition security for the country through promotion of increased food production and product diversification
- Horticulture crops data collection, and collation in collaboration with KNBS, Ministry of Agriculture and livestock development and the County governments.
- Devise and maintain a system for regularly obtaining information on current and future production and prices for advisory and planning purposes
- Conduct studies and research designed to promote the production of scheduled crops in collaboration with various governments and private institutions.
- Collaborate with research and training institutions in the dissemination of research findings
