The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) – Nuts and Oil Crops Directorate today led a successful tree planting exercise at the Chapembe Mangrove area, Makumba Sublocation, Junda Location in Kisauni Sub-county, Mombasa County.

A total of 27,500 mangrove trees were planted in line with the Presidential directive on national tree planting. The activity was carried out in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the State Department for Forestry, local leadership, farmers, and the dedicated AFA team.
This activity supports the national goal of achieving 30% tree cover by 2032, as outlined in the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign.
Mangrove forests are vital for combating climate change, protecting coastal ecosystems, and sustaining local livelihoods.
