AGRICULTURE CS LAUNCHES AFA STRATEGIC PLAN

The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Andrew Karanja, PhD today officially launched Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.

The five year plan outlines the Authority’s strategic direction for the period 2024 – 2027 to deliver on its mandate.

The plan is anchored on four key pillars: Enhancing food security, nutrition and economic transformation; Transforming scheduled crops value chains into commercially viable enterprises; Enhancing quality assurance and safety for scheduled crops produce and products; and Enhancing the Authority’s operational efficiency and sustainability.

The plan emphasizes on production and productivity of scheduled crops, market development of scheduled crops, institutional capacity development and regulation of scheduled crops.

Present was the Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr. Paul Ronoh PhD, AFA Board Chairperson Cornelly Serem, AFA Director General Dr. Bruno Linyiru OGW, Kenya Seed Company MD Sammy Chepsiror, Tea Board of Kenya CEO Willy Mutai, Agriculture Finance Corporation CEO George Kubai, and Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate MD Prof. Theophilus M. Mutui, PhD amongst others.
