Our Regulation & Compliance Development is offered by a specialized external stakeholder support department that that plays a critical role in ensuring that Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops subsector players comply with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
The primary objective of R & C is to is to oversee compliance with regulations, codes of conduct, and standards that relate to the sub-sector.
R & C plays a crucial role in plays a vital role in promoting responsible and sustainable practices in the Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops sub-sector By ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes of conduct, and standards, R & C helps to protect the stakeholders, promote fair labour practices, and ensure the quality and safety of sub-sector products.
Functions
- Develop a facilitative policy and regulatory framework for Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops sub-sector;
- Registration and licensing of value chain actors;
- Surveillance along border ports and other Miraa and Pyrethrum growing areas;
- Inspection of nursery operators, dealers, processors, Importers, exporters and other stakeholders;
- Capacity build County Government staff and other stakeholders on Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops on requirements for registration, licensing, standards and the industry code of practice;
- Recommend general industry agreements between farmers and buyers of Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops.
